The Prince’s Tale: A Story of Snape and Lily…

hayy…. im not really a fan of snape/lily… i just found one video from youtube and then BOOM!! i really liked their past.. hayy…

for those who do not know.. i don’t want to spoil you.. so stop reading…

excerpt from Chapter 33 (The Prince’s Tale) of HP and the Deathly Hallows:

Dumbledore took a deep breath and closed his eyes.

“Tell him that on the night Lord Voldemort tried to kill him, when Lily cast her own life between them as a shield, the Killing Curse rebounded upon Lord Voldemort, and a fragment of Voldemort’s soul was blasted apart from the whole, and latched itself onto the only living soul left in that collapsed building. Part of Lord Voldemort lives inside Harry, and it is that which gives him the power of speech with snakes, and a connection with Lord Voldemort’s mind that he has never understood. And while that fragment of soul, unmissed by Voldemort, remains attached to and protected by Harry, Lord Voldemort cannot die.”

Harry seemed to be watching the two men from one end of a long tunnel, they were so far away from him, their voices echoing strangely in his ears.

“So the boy…the boy must die?” asked Snape quite calmly.

“And Voldemort himself must do it, Severus. That is essential.” Another long silence.

Then Snape said, “I thought…all those years…that we were protecting him for her. For Lily.”

“We have protected him because it has been essential to teach him, to raise him, to let him try his strength,” said Dumbledore, his eyes still tight shut. “Meanwhile, the connection between them grows ever stronger, a parasitic growth. Sometimes I have thought he suspects it himself. If I know him, he will have arranged matters so that when he does set out to meet his death, it will truly mean the end of Voldemort.”

Dumbledore opened his eyes. Snape looked horrified.

“You have kept him alive so that he can die at the right moment?”

“Don’t be shocked, Severus. How many men and women have you watched die?”

“Lately, only those whom I could not save,” said Snape. He stood up. “You have used me.”

“Meaning?”

“I have spied for you and lied for you, put myself in mortal danger for you. Everything was supposed to be to keep Lily Potter’s son safe. Now you tell me you have been raising him like a pig for slaughter – ”

“But this is touching, Severus,” said Dumbledore seriously. “Have you grown to care for the boy, after all?”

“For him?” shouted Snape. “Expecto Patronum!”

From the tip of his wand burst the silver doe. She landed on the office floor, bounded once across the office, and soared out of the window. Dumbledore watched her fly away, and as her silvery glow faded he turned back to Snape, and his eyes were full of tears.

“After all this time?”

“Always,” said Snape.

* note: Lily’s Patronus is a silver doe.. when she died, snape’s patronus became a doe..*

In short:

snape has known and loved lily since before she knew she was a witch… in fact, he was the one who told her what she truly was… at first, this seemed to upset lily.. then they became friends.. bestfriends even… then there was the scene where he called Lily a mudblood… she was disappointed in him… Snape tried to ask voldermort not to kill lily.. but when his words ran through deaf ears, he asked dumbledore to help him… but lily still died and now he just promised to protect harry because she died to protect him.. and he would not let her die in vain… when dumbledore asked him if he had cared for harry, snape said that he always had cared for harry.. he tried to save him from danger.. he was just keeping a facade so he won’t be suspected… this was so touching.. hayy…. he really loved lily so much that even if harry wasn’t his son, he still cared because harry is lily’s son… maybe this is why JK said that harry’s eyes are just like his mother’s so that snape would always remember lily by looking at his eyes…. hayyyyy…..

anyways… this is the video i watched that truly inspired me to think that snape may have a soft side after all.. the video is pretty good.. he/she used clips from the movie “sky high” to portray lily and snape’s friendship… the song is “broken” by seether and amy lee.. thanks to Sirrah78 for making such a nice video… you guys better check out her other videos… click me for the url!

he never was popular at hogwarts and he felt guilty for betraying her to Voldermort yes i said his name get over it,and so snape blamed himself for her death and so he should buut he thought he owed her and he protected harry

From books 1-5, i hated snape, but after reading Deathly Hallows, i love him. His life was so sad and hard. He was never accepted at Hogwarts, and the girl he’s loved for a huge chunk of his life ends up marrying his worst enemy. That poor, poor guy:((

but still why couldn’t Snape care for Harry!?!?

Harry had a miserable time in potions because of Snape, and the only reason was because Snape was jealous of James.

PS: I wish J.K. Rowling’s wrote about Harry’s eyes that he shared with Lily, that were so rare and special to Snape!

To the blog writer: I agree with you on everything except one part. When Dumbledore says, “After all this time?” and Snape replies, “Always,” he means he still loves her after all this time: always has and always will. He never loved Harry. Never. He loved Lily, and Lily loved Harry and died for him. That’s the absolute only reason he protected him for so long. Because if he didn’t, Lily would hate him for it. He loathed him as much as he loathed James, but he would never hurt him (physically) because it would have hurt Lily. Even in spite of all his hatred, though, I still loved Snape. He had a heart, if only a small one. It WAS big enough to love. Plus, I always knew he was good from book one! ;)

Oh, and, AMAZING video! Most of the time it’s very tactless and corny when people use clips from other movies to make a video, but this was splendidly well done!!! Bravo!
